1 . Design of Custom-based Robots

Design is a creative process and more so for Custom-based Robot applications.
A very painstaking approach is adopted here, starting with a detailed site survey in conjunction with the Customers’ Engineers and Managers, in order to define the “Joint Statement of Requirements” (JSOR).
Based on the JSOR, a list of performance parameters expected of the Robot/ Robotic System is evolved jointly and a “Work Order” + “Supply Order” (Optional) is placed on Artec.
On the Robot becoming a physical reality, it is assembled and tested at a discreet location within customers’ premises or mutually agreed locale.
After “fine tuning” of performance characteristics and “Acceptance” of supply, the Robot is shifted to its final operational duty location and integration to the Customers’ application is carried out as a part of the commissioning process.
“Dry run” trials are taken with co-ordination of Customers’ plant and equipment at their optimal performance levels.
A review is taken to establish “conformance” to JSOR and an overall check is performed jointly for “Fitness” to be commissioned for duty.
On finding fitness, the Robot is commissioned for continuous duty.
Formal handing over/ taking over is completed through submission of Operation and Maintenance Manuals, Warranty and receiving of order Completion certificate.
The Customers’ personnel responsible for the induction of the Robots are required to undergo mandatory training programs at Artec, for a number less than 10 persons. For greater numbers, Artec will conduct in-house training. All training programs are charged for at mutually agreeable costs.

2 . Design of Androids

Androids are an outcome of advanced Robotics. Essentially, these resemble Humans. Please refer the section on Androids in this website. The “limbs” are individual Robotic appurtenances and work under the overall control of a super redundant Controller, having very sophisticated software capable of “Learning” and building up a “Knowledge” base for appropriate and context-based application of commands and control. Initially, these will work under the supervision and confirmatory dialog with its Master (Human), with a progressive trend to autonomous operations, storing “experiences” and correlating to context.
These Androids can become “Autonomous” enough to even perform the tasks of skilled operations as Driving/Piloting a craft, Maritime, Terrestrial or Aeronautical.
It is left to the future users to think up applications for such devices created out of Human “ingenuity”.
Artec will dedicate its Androids to only humanitarian tasks, too hazardous for Humans to perform, e.g. Fire-fighting, De-mining, Nuclear waste handling, Decommissioning of Nuclear installations, Under-water repairs to Pipelines/Cables, Object retrieval, Rescue of trapped Submariners by operating special crafts/equipments.
The greatest advantage over humans in all these is the Androids independence of the need for oxygen and can be built as tough as any application warrants. They are expendable and thus prevent needless misuse of Humans.

3 . Development of Automation

While many industries have gone in for “AUTOMATION”, they have done it in a piece-meal manner, being conditioned by suspicions of total chaos “if and when automatic system should fail……”.
Now that Industries have sufficiently “matured” enough to realize the enormous savings and benefits of automation, Artec offers to “Develop” Total Automation of Processes and high speed Production, combining “Hard automation” with “Soft Automation” (Robotics), on a “Turn-key” basis for new plants. Retrofitting “Automation” to ageing processes and production lines can also be taken up, to extract performance from existing installed capacities.
As in the case of “Custom” Robotics, the same thoroughness will be applied and minimally disturbed induction of automation can be ensured, on being assigned to carry out holistic Automation.

4 . Total System engineering services
(Concept to Commissioning)

Systems have well defined “Boundaries”. Total System Engineering services are rendered by Artec, primarily in “Retrofit” situations.
Existing Plant and Machinery are surveyed for receiving “Retrofit” of Automation elements. A complete line-balancing exercise is carried out through industrial engineering practices and survey of existing plant operation and maintenance records.
The system boundary will be identified by Customers’ engineers, operators and managers in consultation with Artec’s plant engineering experts.
A systematic plan and strategy will be submitted for customer acceptance and time-bound programs will be firmed up with customer commitment to adhere to the programs for their own benefit.
In the case of new projects, Artec can conceptualize and supervise build –up of even macro plants, to a time-bound schedule and commission the same. Artec has the capacity to design “Bridging” equipment in case Commercially Off The Shelf (COTS) items are not likely to be available in time for overall project completion.
